I'm not going to lie

My husband eats well because of ME! He knows this too.

For some UNKNOWN reason, I have become sort of addicted to QVC's IN THE KITCHEN WITH DAVID show. This all came about last October when we were going thru that freak Halloween Snow Storm. I was sitting watching TV watching my power lines sway with all the tree limbs coming down from the weight of the leaves and fresh WET SNOW!

Anyhoo, while watching my MAN DAVID, as he's known to me, I saw a promo for a cookbook for a slow cooker. This woman was cooking healthy in the slow cooker.

Gary eats the SAME BREAKFAST DAY IN DAY OUT. He eats the Steel Cut oats with fruit and cinnamon.

NO more standing at the stove for 30+ minutes for me. I do all the prep of the apples, add the oats, apples and cinnamon and push 6 hours and away it goes.

This batch lasts Gary 12 days! And is he ever happy!

Thank you David Venable! You're the BEST!

Happy Tuesday to all!

Finally got to planting my window boxes

so for ME, the summer of 2012 has officially begun! I have written about my window boxes in previous posts so I won't bore you on the gory details. Like how I got the idea of the pickets from Martha Stewart!

I think Martha really likes my boxes as she used MY WINDOW BOXES in 1 of her posts!

This year I planted ONLY 1 variety of flowers. I chose pink and white petunias. I can't wait to see how great they will look come July.

Because I have so many deer roaming around the yard, I plant on my deck. Here are photos of my tomato plant and my basil garden. I also stuck in 1 cucumber plant and I already have 1 cucumber forming!

Russ and I also did a quick home improvement the other day - we swept more stone dust onto the front walk to keep the stones from shifting. Russ is a great great help! Gordie too - he's in nearly every photo!

Here Russ is watering in the dust!

I APPROVE!!!!!!!!!!

Is there ANYONE out there who doesn't know

We love our dog GORDIE?

About 6 weeks ago I was reading 1 of my favorite food blogs and up popped a recipe for dog treats. Now you know I'm ALWAYS in the kitchen but never have I tried baking the goodies for Gordie.

UNTIL NOW!

There are only 4 ingredients that go into the recipe.

2 1/2 CUPS OF WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR
2 EGGS
1/3 CUP OF EITHER SWEET POTATO, PUMPKIN PUREE, BABY CARROTS
3 TABLESPOONS OF PEANUT BUTTER

I dump all the ingredients into my food processor. I'm sure the mixer would be fine also.

The dough comes together in probably about 30 seconds.

Then it's time to roll out the dough and cut out any shape you feel like.

I bake my goodies at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes until they become crunchy.

Gordie has never been happier! It's fun to teach an OLD dog (15 years - 16 years on July 29th)something new!

Happy First Monday in JUNE!

Best,
Jane M
