This is a first for me, as I am about to review a movie we went to see over the long weekend.

A few details first.

I am a person who likes to be ENTERTAINED at the movies.

I am a person who generally likes HAPPILY EVER AFTER MOVIES.

I am not an easy person to TAKE to the movies because of the above statement.

So here goes:

1. The movie was essentially about DEATH and DYING. Like I said before, that is NOT ENTERTAINMENT to me.

2. George Clooney was the main actor in this flick and well he was just George Clooney like he is in most of his movies.

3. George Clooney wore DAD JEANS throughout the movie. THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING/LOOK for anyone let alone George Clooney.

4. This movie made Hawaii and the outer islands look crappy. Imagine - when I think of Hawaii I think of paradise. Well that was BEFORE I went to see this movie. I have a much different view of Hawaii now.

5. THE DESCENDANTS was 1 hour and 56 minutes too long (i.e. the death and dying thing with a few other life problems mixed in)

6. This review is of course my opinion - I just put my thoughts out there. I will not judge AT ALL if you decide to see this movie.

I hope more UPLIFTING movies are coming out over the CHRISTMAS holidays as you know we Cahn's go to the movies every XMAS day! Please keep your fingers crossed for me -

Thanks and I hope this review helps in deciding whether you go see this film or not!

The Thanksgiving Weekend is over

This was "our" turkey this Thanksgiving and it was a tasty bird indeedy! I went food shopping with my BFF and we decided to just GO FOR it and buy this premium turkey. We both had terrific results.

Since we only roast a turkey once a year, we decided that it was worth the extra expense in buying this bird.

Everyone in my family loved the abundance of food! Even though it's a lot of cooking and cleaning up - making a meal like this is right up my ally.

Emily was a huge help. Now that she's a career gal, she doesn't have much free time to come to NJ. She loved being home and relaxing and helping me in the kitchen.

Russell came home with a cold this Thanksgiving break. Unfortunately while working at the Rescue Squad overnight, he was suffering with an ear ache. Saturday morning Russell and I were at the ON CALL clinic first thing so that he could get right on some antibiotics to feel better. On a side note, I should NOT text my husband since he misread some messages which was not a good thing! GAAAH!

Other than eating, shopping, and going to the movies we probably spent the rest of the long weekend sniggling our best dog Gordie! The kids were so happy to be able to be with the family dog. And let me tell you, the dog was in H.E.A.V.E.N as well!

All the leftovers are eaten and the only thing left is the turkey carcass which I will be turning into a great stock tomorrow.

Work tomorrow. Making the new swatch cards for our SPRING 2012 line!

Next Week

is THANKSGIVING WEEK! I've got some serious work planned for myself and Emily.

First off I have to get in all the food so that we can make, bake, or cook WHATEVER we feel like! That will start on Thursday.

Second, I cannot wait for Emily to come home for a much needed break from her REAL/CAREER world!

Here are some things we plan on baking for this T-Day celebration.

All I ask is don't judge the CALORIES!

Anyone care to join us :)!

Penzey's OPENED

nearby to me in Summit, NJ! I've been following the store's progress online and by telephone since early September when that was the original date for the grand opening. A few weeks later than they planned the store has opened!

I think I went a little nuts shopping, but for the first time I was able to see and smell all the spices that Penzey's offers. Penzey's had a little Kiosk in Grand Central terminal in NYC, but it was quite small and not for browsing. I would come with a written list and hand my list to a worker bee and they would collect what I wanted and off I went.

I didn't have my camera with me yesterday, but this new store is HUGE! Gary and I thought - should we really go to the store on the first day - the place might be packed.

We were the only shoppers! The store had many in help and we got the grand tour and we picked up many new items that we've never tried before!

I guess you know what I'll be doing today!

Macarons and other things

Last week a friend and I went to the VIKING cooking school for a lesson on baking the French cookie called Macarons. We both had a lot of fun. So being JANE - yep - I came running home and had to bake a batch all by myself following the instructions of our cranky teacher Linda.

I was not too happy with the results. I think my macarons tasted good, it's just that they didn't look the way I wanted them to. They were a batch in the color green.

So I waited a day and tried again! This time I made up MY OWN RULES! Yes indeedy - and I was THRILLED with my results. These are macarons in purple.

Not to change the subject - but I am. Tomorrow my girl friend is taking me and another friend to the taping of the NATE BERKUS show. I sort of know who he is - Oprah made blah blah blah. So I turned on the TV at the gym and there Nate was coming on! Apparently the audience gives this dude a standing ovation for just walking through the door! We didn't do this for Martha when we went to see her show being filmed. I feel obligated to stand up tomorrow, but it's not because I want to - just so you know!

On that note - the SPRING 2012 line is in the works! We're both so excited ALREADY! We've got a line of cotton madras bows to knock your socks off! Get ready--

I'll be back at you with photos from Nate's show! Somehow I have to figure out how to get IN FRONT of the camera for my 15 minutes of fame instead of sitting in TV audiences!
