Now I feel kind of bad

Remember back in the Fall of 2009 when I used to have this very lovely spider plant? When bringing in the plant for the fall a BIRD flew out and into our house! Now that I see the plant in PHOTOS hanging on my front porch in all its glory I'm feeling a bit sad that it's gone forever. I'm quite hasty like that you know. It's just my personality - something bad happens - WHAM - out the door! Good-bye!

Oh well, maybe this spring, if we ever get a spring, I'll purchase and nurture a new plant. Only I have to figure out how to keep the birds from NESTING in my plants!

Happy Thursday.

Mother Nature Hates Us

Well isn't that a strong statement indeedy? Spring started on the evening of March 20th this year. What 3 full days later we're back to winter? The salting truck has been up our hill only 3 times so far today and it's only 9:00am! Good thing the ground is starting to warm up as it looks like we won't be using our handy dandy snow blower today - YET! I think Gordie has it right - just staying cozy on his favorite chair and snoozing the morning away. I can't do that - I have TIES to get to!

Happy Spring!

An Irish Sunday Night Dinner with Friends!

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day a few days early by eating Irish foods at friend's house last night. The food was so so yummy. Actually, I've never had corned beef that didn't make me thirsty all night.

Russell did not attend as he was busy rescuing residents doing his EMT thing. Emily came and fell in love with a cockapoo mix named Princess!

The menu was, corned beef, Shepard's pie, cabbage and other veggies, salad, my celery salad and many dessert of which I never snapped photos. I did eat a yummy bread pudding with raisins soaked in rum with caramel and whipped cream topping.

Was an early evening since we have work today.

Here are some photos!

Another GIRLS NIGHT

I hosted another girls night for my friends. We've been getting together to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and just about any other occasion we can think of. We've probably been doing all this partying since 1997!

I decided to get the girls together to eat and craft last night. Not a major messy craft but something to do after we ate.

Since I can't seem to get Barcelona out of my mind, last night I served Tapas as we didn't get together until 8pm. I made a whole host of finger foods that everyone could take as they please. I grilled some chicken, I baked a fritatta, I had some yummy salads and of course had to have marinated olives and the potato croquettes! All the foods were small and easy to eat and sip some wine.

Afterwards we folded and snipped up some tissue paper to make hanging flowers. 2 of my friends were seriously in major production to decorate their homes for St. Patrick's Day. The 4 of us left just made pretty spring colored flowers to get us in the mood for spring!

Here are some pictures.

Can you believe this?!

Today is my birthday. I know, EARTH SHATTERING news! I am another year older! WOOT WOOT! But here is something just crazy that happened to me this morning.

In the Cahn household on birthdays we all wake up early and run down to the kitchen to open cards and presents. Who doesn't love presents?!!!!

This morning I opened up the cards from the kids first. As you know, our Emily is a senior at The George Washington University in our Nation's Capital and our son is a Sophomore at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. (they are at school right now - their Spring Break is next week) I opened up Russell's card first. Very cute indeed. Just so "Jane". Then I put my finger in the envelope of Emily's card and I see the same lilac color and then I pull out the card and IT'S THE SAME EXACT BIRTHDAY CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW ME THAT MY CHILDREN REALLY DO KNOW ME SO SO WELL! I asked Gary if he knew anything about this and he said no. I got right on the horn - early as it was - ALL THE CAHN'S ARE EARLY RISERS WEEKEND AND WEEKDAY! Both of the kids couldn't believe it either! What a treat - seriously!

On that note, it is time for me to put my feet up - isn't that what MY DAY is all about? Well first we went to go see the movie THE FIGHTER. We just loved it! Now I've got a chicken roasting, along with some potatoes and a side salad and dinner will be served up soon.

Big work week ahead - so what else is new - right?

Why I love reading the newspaper

I think I blogged a while back that since Gary had such great success in fulfilling his 2010 resolutions, that I got on the band wagon and jotted down my 10 resolutions in a Word file for 2011. I'm not allowed to look at my resolutions throughout the year, but I do remember resolution #3. (Honestly I do not remember any of the other 9 resolutions - no joke.) I'm coming clean with my resolution #3. No laughing - please. I long for Michelle Obama's arms. Yes indeedy I do! So yesterday I walked the dog and brought in our copy of Monday, February 28th's edition of the New York Times. Under the fold on the bottom left on the front page was an article about the White House and the personal trainer (my new GOD). I need to see Cornell McClellan about getting my arms into shape.

Here is what the article said: The very fit president has sent other White House aides to Cornell McClellan, the trainer, a genial master tormenter who is the secret weapon behind Michelle Obama’s famously toned arms and who has overseen both Obamas’ exercise programs for more than a decade. How do I get to this Mr. McClellan?!!! I doubt he knows my longing for Michelle's arms!

I won't bore you with photos of my arms now - but we're in the month of March - I have only 9 short months to get into shape - not JUST MY ARMS! After every workout - (I trade off between the elliptical machine and the treadmill) I work on my arms. Gary says not to give up that after a while I too will see progress.

So at the next set of Trade Shows I might just be in sleeveless tops and dresses just like our First Lady! If not, you will know that I have 5 months to achieve my #3 resolution!

Happy Tuesday - buy some ties from us today!

Jane M
