Did you hear?

We had a party Saturday night and everyone had fun and liked my food! YIPPEE! I really love to entertain and make people feel comfortable and relaxed. My red/white and blue theme was a hit - and my food too. Here are some pictures from the party.

It's another craptastick Monday here - Mondays are my LEAST favorite day of the week - today is no exception.

It's soon time to get baking for the Trade Shows. I've got to keep my customers happy! Hopefully no one will get tired of my double chocolate walnut biscotti.

Oh Look what I baked

for the par-tay tonight!

Can't wait to cut into it later on. Hope the rest of the food is tasty too!

OK got to dry my hair and get finished up and throw the steaks on the grill.

The review will come tomorrow! I hope it's a good 1!

Can you tell

the difference between a zucchini plant and a cucumber plant - BECAUSE I CAN'T! I just plunked in the seeds this spring hoping something would come up! And look! I've got a nice crop coming along - and the deer can't reach my vegetable patch either!

I hope my tomato plants continue to thrive as well.

I don't want to jinx anything

but I have out fooled those pesky deer, wild turkeys, bunnies, and the scary fox? This summer I decided to plant tomatoes, zucchinis and cucumbers in my window boxes and on my deck! Any other plant that is in the ground have been chewed down. And I'm talking plants that deer don't normally CHOMP on - hydrangeas and black eye Susan's!

Here are some pictures of my veggies. Next summer we are selling our table and chairs and we're planning on lining up more pots/containers and will grow even more veggies and herbs!

Happy Summer!

Gary took us to

Harold's New York deli for lunch today. Only he didn't let us get that GIGANTIC sandwich for the 3 of us to share! RATS! We all ordered our own lunch. But I did get to sink my teeth into a very juicy Pastrami Sandwich on rye with mustard with a side of pickles. You see this place Harold's is known for everything they serve as being way over the top gigantic.

Even tho I don't have that gi-normous sandwich to show you, I'll show you the desserts that are served. No, we didn't order any dessert - RATS AGAIN! Oh I could have sunk my teeth into that carrot cake, that chocolate cake and that cheesecake! What do you think of that eclair? CRAZY HUGE no? And those cookies? Russ did have a black and white cookie on the car ride home.

OK back to watching the US Open. I can't remember watching a golf tournament this late at night.

And then I fried some chicken

You see we are getting company NEXT Saturday night and well I don't want to serve icky food. So I was thinking of having an "All American Night". Fried chicken was going to be on the menu. Not so after making it! It is a big sloppy mess as well as having to eat it. I don't think my guests feel like picking up chicken and getting messy - so I am back to the drawing board. I'm still going with the American Theme - I have my flower center piece all thought up in my head. I'm going to help myself to my neighbors GIANT HYDRANGEAS - mine are too small - and then I'll buy some red carnations and some white baby's breath. Should be a nice presentation - in a galvanized bucket too! I have so so many dessert ideas going on in my head as well - doesn't a blueberry pie with a fancy crust sound like fun - with maybe a side of sugar cookies in fun shapes? I'm trying out the sugar cookies later on today - photos to follow.

So here are some photos of the chicken, of my garden, of our best dog Gordie. Summer is truly here - but no rest for JANE! Swatch cards are in the works - ties to follow and lots and lots and lots of cooking because I think about food ALL-THE-TIME!

I'm ADMITTING this on my blog

I'm addicted to THE REAL HOUSEWIVES NY. My mother-in-law got me watching last summer when I started whining about how there was NOTHING to watch on TV. No, it's not her fault I'm watching this dreck, because I can certainly change the channel! So I watch and the next day I read the blogs and I just laugh. This whole show is in EVERYONE's face these days...aaah TV. If only I could get on TV - maybe I can make up some stupid song like THE COUNTESS did called MONEY CAN'T BUY YOU CLASS. Pu-lease! That woman has no business singing in the first place. Haven't seen the show - you won't have a clue as to what I'm spewing! I do however make Gary sit with me to watch the program after RHNY, called WATCH WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. I'm sorry, this show is EVEN BETTER than RHNY! The host, Andy Cohen, he's too much - and he has guests come on his show that MOCK RHNY! A few weeks ago Jerry Seinfeld came on - talk about hysterical. Well anything Jerry says makes me laugh outloud.

So I guess you know what I'll be doing tonight at 9pm - it's the RHNY Reunion show! WOOT WOOT! Isn't life grand?

Hee hee

I'm think I'm a bit drugged out on all the silk that's flying around these parts! TIME TO GET TO THE SWATCH CARDS!

The Inside of the Cake

The cake was a HUGE hit! No one had ever seen a 7 layer cake - well a cake with all those colors! I'm glad everyone liked it and it tasted good too!

I'm tired today - was a long evening - I'll nap later on today.

Baker
Jane M PS - This picture is missing the 7th layer - (it was purple)
