Just a quick PS

Do any of you out there own 1 of these? They are pot scrubbers and man do they work fantastic! This is 1 kitchen that you all need to own out there.

Oh, and I sent Gary out in the cold and wet snow to buy the lottery ticket. He was the only 1 on the line to buy ONE LONELY TICKET! He got nasty looks from the patrons as well as the candy store owner. Hey, it only takes 1 ticket -- right?!

Keep your fingers crossed for me! I was going to say I never win anything, but I did win Ellie Kriegers cookbook last month!

We had a winter storm today

It snowed over night here in NJ and most of the day. My Russell said it was a waste of a storm since he is on his last day of February School vacation. HA HA... I had to laugh. And yes, I MADE HIM SHOVEL! I did a little shoveling too, just to get outside for some fresh air.

So all you tie have done a bang up job so far this season. Thank you and lets see if we can get more orders out the door ASAP! I'm here for you!

Emily called last night to say that her new roommate who she is dorming with next year (yup -- the kids are already picking their dorm rooms for the new school year -- WHERE THE HECK IS THE TIME GOING?) But to finish the story, the school has a raffle each year. The winner of the raffle gets FIRST CHOICE OF DORM BUILDING AND ROOM! Out of over 3,000 entrants, yup you guessed it, the girl Em is rooming with WON THE RAFFLE! When Emily called last night I could hear it in her voice how excited she was! The girls are of course picking the most luxurious dorm room on campus! (I'm sure that will cost us plenty!) BUT HOW FUNNY/LUCKY IS THAT? Which reminds me, I never got out to buy my lottery ticket and the drawing is tonight!

So on that note, I will close and drive down my steep hill to the nearest lottery dealer. HOPE I'M A WINNER -- YEAH RIGHT -- IT'S THE BIG LOTTERY IN 12 STATES! But hey, a girl can dream -- right?!

Have a wonderful weekend and maybe buy some more ties online! I'll be sure to service you right away!

I missed

the eclipse! I feel so stupid! I was so so tired from working that I fell asleep on the couch and then dragged myself into bed after waking up with a crick in my neck! I'm so happy my father sent me an email with photos he took of the eclipse! I did wake up at 12:30am like it was TODAY! I looked out my window because it looked so bright outside. I then ran downstairs and ran OUTSIDE in my PJ's to look up at the moon. WOW was it bright! It was amazing. I saw shadows from the trees even! Isn't that something?!!!!

OK have the winter blues for some reason. Took a drive out to check on my folks house and some guy had road rage. I was driving at the proper speed and was sandwiched in between a gazillion cars. I couldn't wait to be able to pull over and let this mental midget go ahead of me. And wouldn't you know he got only to the next car! DON'T YOU JUST HATE THAT?!!!!! Plus I heard on the radio this morning that NJ is really cracking down on driving while holding and talking on cell phones. I have a speaker on my phone -- but honestly, I'M HARDLY AN IMPORTANT PERSON AND I RARELY GET CALLS ON MY CELL! So I don't have to worry. My husband, on the other hand, he can really TALK! I'm surprised he wants to talk at dinner he talks to much during the day!

Ok then, keep sending in those tie orders and I will fill them!

Work Work Work

Emily waiting for her train back to school

EMILY LEFT ME FLAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's back at school where she's so so happy and I guess where she belongs. Boo Hoo for me. Anyway, while spending good quality time with her this past weekend, she told me that her main objective at school is to do the VERY BEST she can! That means for Emily, she's striving to make Dean's list -- and just learn as much as she can so that she can go out in the real world and get a good job. GARY AND I ARE BEYOND THRILLED WITH ALL THAT SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED in the short time she's been away at school.

Me, I'm busier than ever shipping ties. Gary -- he's beyond busy working on his magazine -- and also designing the next line of neckwear.

I guess that's about it from here in NJ.

Presidents Weekend

First weekend in a MONTH that I didn't do any any Private Stock work! Wow, 2 whole days and I didn't do any TIES!!!!!! I slept alot (well for me at least) and my whole family was around! Emily came home from school for the long weekend. She too needed the break from all the college work. Her train didn't come in until 11:20pm Friday night. Wow was it hard to stay awake to go pick her up at the train ... but we made it. Emily wanted to do the regular Saturday chores together and that's just what we did. We went to our favorite supermarket, Wegmans. Came home and put all the food away, had lunch and then we were off to the movies. We went to see DEFINATELY MAYBE. What a cute movie - with a political slant! Russ and Gary went to their baseball practice and we all came home to have dinner together.

Today, Sunday we all slept in. We took a ride to Borders to look through magazines, cookbooks, fashion books, and a variety of other stuffs. Too bad there were so many parents with young YOUNG crying babies there! We went next door to Circuit City to look at TV's. We sat in all their barker loungers and looked at all the sets. WOW TV's have really changed over the years. No more big sets in those big consoles! Every TV is flat flat flat! So we left with nothing - from either store!

So it's pouring rain right now. Emily leaves midday tomorrow. I've taken not 1 photo over the weekend. Maybe because I have the winter blues? I just don't know. I've been doing my usual cooking and baking ... tonight we ate chocolate covered strawberries. Last night I made these rich chocolate brownies. I wish I could bake all the time and try all different recipes but not have the food in the house. I need some outlet for all my baked goods.

All righty then, tomorrow it's back to work.

Hope you had a nice holiday weekend!

Valentine's Day -- BAH HUMBUG!

Russell poses
Gary models
I was just talking to Emily via IM'ing - 1 of our favorite communications! Anyway, we're BAH HUMBUG about Valentine's Day. WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary and I have been going NON-STOP -- Gary doing the Spring Magazine, me doing the Spring TIES. I'm enjoying picking each order and seeing the beautiful colors as I stack the ties neatly in rows in each of the boxes. That being said, I'm waiting patiently for all your RE-ORDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've had a bit of winter weather here in the Northeast. I think I've had enough of it for this season. Yesterday Gary and Russ went to NYC for the photoshoot while I was here doing the ties. I got to see a few photos taken by my son with my camera of how it all went down in NY. Now I can't wait to see the finished product -- the next magazine.

So I hope all you love bugs out there are enjoying the day of love!

OH the spring tie line should be appearing on this website shortly! Our webmaster has the disk with the tie photos and soon you can order our spring collection online too!

my new Ellie Krieger cookbook, *The Foods You Crave*. I've made 3 recipes so far and they have all been terrific! I love when that happens with a cookbook!

Today, I made a Mushroom Barley "Risotto" with chicken. The risotto is in quotation marks, because this wasn't a true risotto since it was made with barley. I've never cooked with barley before. It was easy. This lunch was so good, hearty and filling! How will I ever have room for dinner?! Ha ha -- I'm sure that won't be a problem for me! Oh on tonight's menu, I making Ellie Krieger's Sloppy Joes. Only I'm subsituting ground chicken for beef. I'll be sure to report back the results from that recipe.

Well ever since the trade shows have ended (we don't show at MAGIC --sorry) I've not had a moment to breathe! I told myself today that I would take it easy. I truly worked until 8:00pm last night. I'm dog tired today -- and this is the weekend for crying out loud! I hope all of you out there in NECKTIE land who has received their shipments from us...well I'm hoping to hear that you need more ties and soon! Or pocket squares, or bowties --- or our new 9 FOLD collection! Come on now, don't be shy we LOVE re-orders!

This week ... oh Gary is going to NYC to do the spring magazine shoot. Just to fill you in, I won't be going as the models this photoshoot are drop dead -- but don't I say this all the time? I'm really not going as I must hold down the TIE fort here actually.

Our Emily is coming home next weekend for a few short days. We plan on doing our regular Wegmans food shop and there is a new CHICK FLICK coming out that we must see together. As for other things to do -- well we're open to most anything.

OK then, write me back - post a COMMENT so I know you are alive and well out there! PLEASE!

Boy that's such a weird word. I've never heard it before. Actually it's pronounced NUDIE. Watched my MENTOR Martha make these the other day and I had all the ingredients on hand. After being a real schlepper today picking and packing, I actually had the strenghth to make a meal from scratch for me and my son (Gary is still in Chicago). So anyway, these gnudis are soft pillows of spinach cheese, egg, and flour. YUM!

Super Bowl THING

Well it was down to only me and Russell this weekend as Gary is off in Chicago. Russ invited his friends over to watch the game. And what a game it was! I'm sorry to say I fell asleep before seeing the last Giant touchdown, but luckily Gary called with 20 seconds left to wake me! Gary was talking on Skype to our Emily, so we all watched the end of the game together -- well sort of! Pictured above are some food pictures and Russ and his friends. It was LOUD down there for only 4 teenagers - but a good time was had by all. And for me, well 1 of the boys brought me 4 Trashy magazines from his Mom and my friend. Boy did that make the time FLY by! I never get to read those magazines in the supermarket check out line because I'm the 1 putting the food on the conveyor belt and schlepping and etc! Well regardless it was a treat for me. When Gary called, he said that in the hotel the satellite went out for 20 minutes and they all missed the last Giant touchdown and he called saying he was in disbelief! His TV reception came back for the last 20 seconds too! No worries, ESPN, FOX...they all play the endings OVER AND OVER AND OVER FOR DAYS!

OK then, it's back to picking and packing for me!

Double Chocolate Walnut Biscotti

Here is my famous biscotti recipe that you all have been glomming down at the Trade Shows!

2 Cups all purpose flour
½ Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
¾ stick (6 Tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened
1 Cup granulated sugar
2 Large eggs
1 Cup walnuts, chopped
¾ Cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter and flour a cookie sheet. ( I just use parchment paper and eliminate that step)

In a bowl whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In the bowl of an electric mixer beat butter and sugar together until well combined. Add eggs and combine well. Stir in flour mixture to form a stiff dough. Stir in walnuts and chocolate chips.

On prepared cookie sheet with floured hands, form dough into 2 slightly flattened logs, each 12 inches long and 2 inches wide.

Bake for 35 minutes. Be careful not to burn the bottoms! Cool the logs on a cookie rack for 10 minutes.

Slice each log into 1 inch slices. Then put the cookies onto the cookie rack and put that rack onto the cookie sheet. Lie the cookies on their side.

Bake the cookies for another 10 minutes. Cool completely.

Chicago - Chicago - Charlotte - Charlotte - Dallas - Dallas

Are you coming to see ANY of us this weekend at all the Trade Shows around the country? Private Stock Menswear is COMING ON! Our orders are up up up from a year ago! Thank you ALL who have bought our line. We're starting the shipping and the orders are all looking so great in the boxes. I know I sound like a broken record, but when I see all the ties and the colors go into the boxes, I just know it's going to make your stores look FANTASTIC! The customers are going to flock to your stores for PRIVATE STOCK!

On another note -- Since Gary will be away in Chicago for the weekend, it's just me and my Russell here in New Jersey. As we ALL know it's SUPERBOWL weekend. I told Russ to invite his friends over. He just called from a friend's house and they are all coming! Russ said we'd go to the supermarket after his baseball practice tomorrow night. So far on the menu is chili and my oh so special pigs in the blanket! We'll decide after that what else we'll serve. And of course I'll bake up something SPECIAL!

So look for more photos on Sunday when we'll all be in front of our TV's.
