OF BISCOTTI TODAY! 13 POUNDS! I'VE NEVER EVER BAKED THAT MUCH IN MY LIFE! Not even for all the bake sales for my kids schools! Well the cookies are all packaged and on their way to Charlotte. Hope the UPS driver doesn't smell the carton and want to open the carton and take a few!!!!!!

The baking took up much of my day, but in between I got a few salesmens lines out the door as well as entering more orders! We're constantly thinking up new things to put on our website and our cool postcards. Look for new stuff coming soon soon soon!

Come now, I want to hear some of your comments on my blog! How else do I know if you are reading it and enjoying it!

More later.

PS The picture is of Jane and Andy Mayer ...and that is who has the 13 pound box of cookies! Go see them in Charlotte in Room 401 -- and please make an order while you're at it!

I'm all ready to bake!

Today I made all the dough for all the biscotti I'm sending down for the Charlotte Show for our sales reps Jane and Andy Mayer and Floyd Nathan! If you want some cookies......go see our sales reps and make an order for our great neckwear! Gary will be coming down on Friday morning to work the line as well! I'm making almost twice the amount of cookies for this coming weekend! I have alot of work tomorrow, baking and wrapping. But I really enjoy being in my kitchen.

Yesterday was our dog, Gordie's, 11th birthday. He had a great day!

So that's all my news for today!

Sunday Morning

We are having our usual relaxing Sunday morning here at the Cahn's. Gary just went out to our favorite bagel store named SUPERDUPER BAGEL in Livingstein (ha ha, Livingston) New Jersey. We buy regular bagels as well as what they call FLATS. (see above picture). This flat bagel is a regular bagel just flattened and then baked. You get more crunch -- you know outside edge. Emily and I love these flats, so Gary just buys 2 -- 1 for each of us.

That's all to report from here.

Busy week ahead...I'll be in the kitchen baking my biscotti for the Charlotte show!

Guess WHAT???!!!!

Gary is going down to the Charlotte Show next weekend...and...HE'S GOING TO BE BRINGING DOWN MY HOMEBAKED BISCOTTI!!!!!! For all of you who did not come by our booth at the NY Haberdashery Show last weekend, well now you have a chance to get a bag of cookies! (If you place an order!) So next week, on top of picking orders and all the other tasks I do, I'm going to be down in my kitchen baking up a storm!

This week was a whirlwind of a week. I'm ready for this weekend of just relaxing! I think I'll go to the movies to see NO RESERVATIONS and other than that I'm not sure what's on tap.

I'm getting back to my regular routine and I'm back at the JCC exercising again. Each machine has its own TV, so I'm sweating and watching the Food Channel at the same time! Crazy right!?

Here is a picture of my Fresh Plum Crumb Dessert I whipped up after reading my new issue of Taste of Home magazine. WOW WAS IT DELICIOUS!

A Day after the Show

AAAAH getting back to our regular routine again! Yesterday we stayed til the bitter end writing orders and packed up our goods and went out for a good steak dinner. We came back to the Warwick and packed up our car and drove home 1 last time.

Today, I had to get some food in the house! The troops (Emily and Russell) were hungry and the pantry was empty! Started to organize the papers and put away the ties. I'm also getting the sample lines ready to go out the door to our fine sales force! We're looking forward to a wonderful season.

Tonight is the free concert in the park nearby, but we're kinda too tired to walk down the hill. We'll go next week instead.

Glad you all came to see us at the Warwick. Hope you enjoyed my homebaked biscotti. I'm already planning what I'll bake for the next show!

One last thing

If you weren't here at the show yesterday, Monday the 23rd, you missed seeing our son working with Gary at the show. He had a wonderful day and Gary welcomed the company! It was a great day for both. Do you think our Russell might join the business??? Who knows! Baseball is his thing!

Bye again!

Half a Day left

here at the Warwick! As I look outside I see the sun shining! What a difference a day makes in weather from yesterday. There are plenty of buyers around now and come late afternoon it will be time to break down our booth. But...you can come see us again at the CHARLOTTE SHOW the first weekend in August. Gary will be coming down for the weekend and our sales reps, Andy and Jane Mayer and Floyd Nathan each have booths/rooms there. Don't be shy, come see us! We have great ties!

So I will close for now. It's time to look for some lunch and then wrap it up here.

PS I hope you all enjoyed my biscotti!

Today was hard rain all day long! So if you have some time tomorrow, come on by! You can't miss us!

Up Late

Finishing up the swatching!!!!! My fingers felt like they were going to fall off and my shoulders and neck ache because I was so stressed! I got the job done! Let me tell you, what a line of ties!!!!!!! So so pretty!

Today, Gary and I were supposed to go to NYC for some last minute Trade Show details. Only everyone was delayed due to the nasty weather here in the NY area! So our plans got cancelled. In light of that, I decided to work with the photographer on the start of the NINE FOLD line. WOW WOW WOW, the ties photographed up so great! And in my Art Director title, I styled the ties into a NINE! Get it, NINE FOLD...the ties will come up so nicely and easy to buy on our website shortly. I can't wait for you to view them either at the Haberdashery Show or online. Either way, try some ties for your store. I'm sure they will sell quicky and you will need to order more!

Tomorrow is the big bake off of the biscotti. I hope it's not as rainy and humid so that the cookies will come out crunchy and yummy. You won't want to miss them!

Ok off to start dinner.

Getting down to it!

Monday is over and it was action packed. We organized all our forms to display the shirts, ties, and bows, and the merchandise we want to schlepp into NYC to the Warwick Hotel. We have really great merchandise this Fall 2007 season!

Just now, I made all the biscotti dough to be able to bake the cookies off on Thursday. I cannot believe the mess I made in my kitchen! I didn't take pictures of that because it was not a pretty site! I also can't believe the amount of flour, sugar and eggs I went through! Good thing I bought a 10 pound sack of flour on this week's food shop!

I will close for now. I'm reading this great book written by Al Gore's daughter, Kristin, named "Sammy's Hill". This fictional story is about a 20 something woman, working for a Junior Senator set in Washington DC. I also just received my August Issue of Martha Stewart Living with hydrangea's on the cover. I don't know what to read first!

I'll have my camera at the show, so get ready to be snapped and you might end up on my blog -- for sure we will post all the photos on our website. Speaking of our website, you must check it daily - between all the new ties being uploaded, new pictures being posted, and my blog -- well there is lots to read all the time.

The Cahn family went to the BIG SHEA yesterday afternoon to watch the NY Mets play ball! We had 3rd row seats behind home plate -- those blue cushioned seats! We felt like we were practically on the field. Saw all the players UPCLOSE and PERSONAL! Yesterday was military appreciation day and we were all given NY METS caps with the logo in camouflage. We saw Jose Reyes hit a bomb of a homerun too. What an experience! And the METS WON!!!!!!!!! I took so many pictures but can only post 1 on this blog. What a wonderful afternoon.

It's the big countdown to the Haberdashery Show. Hope to see you all there!

My New Favorite Set

of the Fall 2007 season. I already have the style number memorized -- 2338! The colors on this tie just pop for me and I hope you will buy this set for your stores too!!!!!!! But don't forget, we have another 99+ styles in the line, as well as formal wear, cuff links, and pocketsquares. Please come by our booth at the Haberdashery Show in the Kent Room at the Warwick.

Well it's Friday and I have the whole weekend ahead of me. I hope the weather holds up as I have lots of gardening to do -- well weeding that is.

Next week, finish up swatching the line and packing up our stuff to take into NYC and BAKING.

See ya'll next week!

53 Sets Photographed 55+ to go!

Day 3 and we finished up photographing all the ties that came in last week. Now it's onto the new 9 fold ties! We captured all the new rich colors and dazzeling designs for Fall 2007. As soon as I get some photo files, I am going to post a few pictures here on the blog.

A week from today our little mini booth will be all set up and our pencils will be sharpened on the mezzanine level of the Warwick Hotel. Bring a cup of your favorite coffee to sip while tasting my home baked biscotti. You won't be disappointed.

No baseball games today for Russell. My husband and son don't know what to do with themselves as we had a huge rain storm/rain out last night -- and the weather prediction for tomorrow is not promising either! But the good news is, Gary's college friend got our family the best seats at SHEA stadium for Sunday's day game. YIPPEE! I haven't been to a game in many years! Should be a fun day.

Can't wait to hear your comments and see you at the Warwick!

The New Line is HERE!

Well I've been oh-so-busy these past few days working with our photographer and our new line of ties. OK, it's 1 thing to make swatch cards and see all the new designs, but now that I'm touching all the news ties I can truly say WOW! We've chosen the most updated, colorful ties to date. Most of the designs come in either 5 or 6 colors! It will be hard to make a choice for all you buyers because the ties are that nice!

A week from tomorrow we will be setting up at the NY Haberdashery Show at the Warwick Hotel. I'm already having a hard time deciding what sets of ties to take with us to display.

Tonight in NJ we are having a terrible rain storm. Russ's baseball game was of course cancelled with all the thunder and the down pours. Our daughter is flying home from her mini vacation. We hope her flight isn't too delayed. Luckily we live not too far from the airport.

Hope to read some of your comments on my blog soon.

Sunday Evening

With my daughter away for a few days, I spent the weekend with my boys doing baseball. Both Saturday and Sunday were doubleheaders! I sat outside in the hot sunshine and wow did I get sunburned. Russ played very well at the Saturday games. Sundays games were out in rural New Jersey with NO SHADE! It felt like "A Field of Dreams" setting. I stayed for the first game and had a quick lunch with Gary and Russ and left to do my marketing.

I will close for now so that I can rest up for the busy work week ahead. It's time to start photographing the new ties for the website!

Testing out my baked goods

Tomorrow, my daughter is going away for a week to michigan to visit a friend she met last summer. As a thank-you gift I baked my Double Chocolate Walnut Biscotti. These are some of the cookies I'm planning on bringing to the Haberdashery Show! Emily is going to be staying in a town called North Port where Mario Batali has a home! If the Batali family is in town, then Emily and her friend will be babysitting for his children! That will be so COOL if it happens! You want to know something else that's funny? Mario's wife's last name is also CAHN! Maybe we're related some how????

Tomorrow, Russell has a double header in Nutley, NJ -- home of Martha Stewart (my mentor). Today, Russ washed all of his catcher's equipment so it will ready for the games.

I will close for now.

Enjoy your weekend.

After July 4th

Well July 4th has come and gone. We had crummy weather here in the Northeast. So the fireworks went off in the rain! We did not go down to the park in our neighborhood, but stood on our front porch to see fireworks in the sky and keep dry! No BBQ for the Cahn's this year because it was just too wet.

So today it was back to work. It was strange having a day off in the middle of the week. The new NINE FOLD swatch cards came in this morning and I was busy making up the line. WOW are they gorgeous!

On that note I'm posting a picture of my peach pie I baked for the 4th. It tasted so so good!

Tuesday, July 3, 2007

WOW, what a busy I had making the new Private Stock line. I'm not quite finished swatching 1/2 the line so far ... and look out for style 2338! It's a beauty! I like to give myself goals when I making card after card to make the time pass faster without going crazy. Lucky for me, Emily came in after working (life guarding) and helped for about an hour. The line is looking really really good. GET YOUR PENCILS READY TO WRITE SOME NICE ORDERS!

Tomorrow is July 4th. Looking forward to BBQ'ing and hopefully hanging at the town pool (weather permitting). No baseball games for Russ tomorrow.

So that's all for now.

Take Care and have a safe holiday.

Swatching Swatching and MORE Swatching!

Wow, our new line is rolling in the door as I type!!!!!!! I always enjoy seeing all the designs and all the colors and make my picks as what will sell the most. Boy is that fun. It's one thing to see a small swatch and yet very different to actually touch the merchandise. I think this will be our biggest season to date! I can't wait to work with our photographer to get the ties up on the web. When I work with our photograhper, I'm then known as the "art director". Oh how I love that title! We really take our time photographing the ties so that they will look perfect and clear to buy online. I think this time I will take pictures of the process to show you how it's all done.

So for now it's time to rest up for the big workday tomorrow. I'm lounging with my daughter and my dog in front of the TV. I'm trying to spend as much time with her before she's off to school.

I think tomorrow I'll post swatching photos. Look for my next blog.

Until then,

JULY 1st!

Can't believe it's JULY 1st and talk of the All Star baseball game coming up! WOW! Must mean summer is almost half way over. Today my daughter and I did the Bed and Bath shop for college. Can you believe these days all you do is, go to your nearest Bed and Bath store, point to an item and scan it and you go to the store nearest to the college and pick up your items in August! It's called pack and hold! HUGE BUSINESS for them, but so convenient. So now the whole family can do the college drop off!

We also went to our local dog park with our best dog Gordie! We enjoy going to the park and seeing all the cute dogs and seeing our dog interact.

Just gearing up for the work week ahead.

Looking forward to hearing your comments!
